With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of David G. Newman, 74, who peacefully passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones at home.  He was born at home by a midwife in Berea, Ky, on June 10, 1950, to the late David Grant and Ruby Lee Riddle Newman Jr.  On December 28, 1971, he married the love of his life, D. Marie Hawkins, a beloved resident of Lawrenceburg. Their marriage was a beautiful journey that lasted for 36 years, filled with shared dreams, laughter, and unwavering support for one another. Although D. Marie predeceased him, their bond remained a cherished part of his life, influencing his values and the memories they created together.  David, a proud United States Army veteran, served two tours in Vietnam as a sergeant from October 14, 1968, to October 13, 1971. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 4075 and worked as a self-employed long-haul truck driver until his disability. He was a beloved member of Graefenburg Christian Church.    David was a dedicated family man; his life and love are continued through his daughters, Terri Griffin Eversole (Larry), Sandra K. Cook (Mark), and Angela Newman Harris (Tammy); his sisters, Vivian King, Norma Jackson and Terry Anglin; his brothers, Delbert Newman (Lisa), and Jerry Newman (Gina); 16 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren—special recognition goes to two of his granddaughters, Jill Cook McDonald and Elyse Eversole Fields.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Kenneth S. Griffin; sisters, Donna VanWinkle, Phyllis Tripp, and Linda Bookout, as well as his brothers, Ronnie Newman and Steve Newman.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Clark Legacy Center, Versailles Rd. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Eversole, Mark Cook, John McDonald, John McDonald Jr., Jayden Cook, Tyler Fields, Ryan Eversole, Sawyer Harris, and Jack Henry Harris.
