Simplicity: Lowcountry Cremation and Burial Services - Ladson
Karl A Overcash, Jr
March 22nd, 1948 - January 15th, 2025
Karl A. Overcash Jr. took his last earthly breath on January 15, 2025. He held a firm belief in God. He trusted Jesus Christ to be his Savior.
Karl was born in Salisbury, North Carolina on March 22, 1948 to Karl A. Overcash Sr. and Edna Mae Hefner Overcash. He grew up in North Augusta and Jackson, South Carolina. He spent many summers with his grandparents at Carolina Beach. Karl loved the beach, water, sailing and fishing. He always said he had a “wonderful childhood.”
Karl proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Viet Nam era. The discipline instilled by the military became an integral part of who Karl was. While at sea, Karl discovered the joy of reading, which he continued for the rest of his life.
Karl had sole custody of his daughter Paige Donahue (Robert) and son Karl Overcash III (Anna). He was a loving and devoted father who gave selflessly. He shared with them his unwavering support, wisdom and faith.
Karl had a forty plus year career in the rubber and tire business. He worked both retail and commercial sales.
At the beach in 1994 Karl met his wife, Jo Cherie Bomar Overcash. Their initial adoration developed into friendship underlain by trust and respect. Karl included her two daughters, Gina Stodghill Stroud (James) and Valerie Stodghill Ivy (Charles) in a blended family. Karl had 10 grandchildren.
Karl loved to make people laugh. Even though he was an honest man he may have embellished some stories.
A Memorial Service will be held at Summerville Presbyterian Church 407 S. Laurel Street in Summerville South Carolina 29483 on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at 2 pm. In remembrance you may make donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
