February 9th, 1941 - January 30th, 2025
Carolyn Bailes Hall, 83, of Mt Pleasant, SC entered into eternal life on January 30, 2025. Carolyn was born on February 9, 1941, in Rock Hill, SC. to the late Dr. Ernest W. Bailes and Sue Hinton Bailes. She was a devoted wife to her beloved late husband, McLain Hall. They spent many joyful years together living in Charlotte, NC. She earned an undergraduate degree from Furman University and her Master’s degree from Winthrop in Guidance and Counseling. She began her career working for the Red Cross working throughout the South taking care of injured military servicemen. After that she began work for the state of NC, and she served for most of her career as a Vocation Rehabilitation counselor in Charlotte. Her career was dedicated to serving and assisting those in need. Carolyn was a long-time and dedicated member of St John’s Baptist Church in Charlotte where she proudly encouraged others to join and become active in church life. Along with her dedication to her family, church, and career, Carolyn loved attending musicals, plays, and operas. The family recalls many fond memories of spending the holidays together and enjoying frequent family visits with Carolyn. She will be deeply missed. She is survived by her loving step-daughters, Gayla Tyson (Tony) of Waxhaw, NC; Cecelia Martucci (Steve) of Travelers Rest, SC; Sylvia Anders of Easley, SC; Kim Caines (Scott) of Six Mile, SC; and Donna Stewart (Paul) of Louisville, KY; her sister in law, Barbara Bailes Rodgers (Raybon) of Mt Pleasant, SC, her niece, Sharon Bailes Farrell (Joey)of Mt Pleasant, SC, her nephew Wesley Bailes (Joanne) of Murrells Inlet, SC, her great niece, Jennifer Bailes Gaskins (Brandon)of Conway, SC, her great nephews Reeves Farrell and Joshua Farrell both of Mt Pleasant, SC, and 4 great-great nephews. She is predeceased by her husband, McLain Hall; parents, Ernest W. Bailes and Sue Bailes Hinton; and brother Ernest W. Bailes, Jr. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4th from 5-7 at Hankins & Whittington Funeral Home, 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, NC. A private Memorial Service will take place on February 5th at Sharon Memorial Park. In honor of Carolyn, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association www.alz.org
