Ronald "Ronnie" Wayne Skyrm
October 2nd, 1953 - December 27th, 2024
Ronald Wayne Skyrm 71, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away surrounded by family on December 27, 2024. After a brief illness.
Ronnie was born the 2nd of October 1953 in San Antonio, Texas. The eldest of two sons to M.B. “Barney” Skyrm aka Papa and Jimmie Lee Adair Skyrm aka Mimi. A proud graduate of McCollum High School in 1972, where he excelled in baseball and competitive bull riding. His passion for bull riding extended beyond competitions, as he also served as a judge in the sport. This past fall, Ronnie was honored by his peers as an inductee into the South Texas Cowboy Rodeo Association Hall of Fame. He was thrilled to accept this recognition, and the induction ceremony will take place in March 2025.
Ronnie became a Texas Peace Officer in 1981. He was a good provider and protector for his family, also for the public as he proudly “Served and Protected.” Later in his career he was a Judicial Security Officer as well as a Certified NRA and AZDPS Security Firearms Instructor and continued to work as an armed security officer until he became ill.
Ronnie found great joy in fishing and hunting, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and reflect on life. According to his brother James, the most transformative moment in Ronnie’s life came in 1997 when he met Michele DePalma while playing softball. Their love story blossomed into a 26-and-a-half-year marriage that brought him immense happiness and fulfillment. Their relationship transformed Ronnie to become a loving, caring, and trusting Family man, Husband, Dad, Granddad, Son, Brother, and friend to all. “I have not seen Ronnie any happier than the last twenty-seven and half years since he has been with Michele, and I personally want to thank Michele for it.”
Ronnie is with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ronnie has reunited with his parents and other family members, fellow Police Officers and friends who have gone home before him. Let us celebrate Ronnie’s legacy for all the good he did and goals he accomplished. Remember the times he made you laugh, smile, or feel good about something. And how he loved you and life.
Ronnie is survived by his beloved wife Michele; his children Jamie (Curtis) Drosche, Randall (Tomas) Skyrm, Shelby Skyrm, Joseph (Shalai) Poling, Cameron (Savannah) Skyrm, and Laci Skyrm. Brother James (Gayle) Skyrm, and his grandchildren Breanna, Samuel, Sydney and Blake Drosche, greatgrandchild Michael. As well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday February 8th, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo Tucson, Arizona 85715. A reception will follow.
