In Loving Memory

Alice Carole Clark, age 89, wife of Lewis Gene Clark, passed away on February 1st, 2025. She was born in Union, S.C. and is the daughter of the late W.T. & Nettie Lawson.

 

Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home 4720 Augusta Road Lexington, S.C. 29073 on February 5, 2025 Visitation 1:00pm - 2:00pm and Funeral Service at 2:00pm, with Graveside Service at Greenlawn Memorial Garden.

 

While Gene was in the Air Force they lived in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Charleston, S.C. before settling in Columbia, S.C. where he graduated from USC and she worked for Richland School District #1, retiring in 1995 with 30 years of service.

 

She was a member of the School Food Service Association and was also Secretary to the SC Food Service Expo held in Myrtle Beach, S.C. each year.

 

She was active in church music having served as pianist of Mon Aetna Baptist Church in Union, S.C. while in high school. She was also active in the music program at Park Street Baptist Church in Columbia, S.C. for 40 years, she was pianist for the Keenagers at Park Street Baptist Church.

 

Mrs. Clark was on the National Board of Celiac Spruce Association located in Omaha Nebraska. She attended many CSA Conferences all over the US and served as Director for the Southeastern United States and also Member-at-Large for 18 years.

 

She is survived by her husband Gene of 70 years, daughter Kimberly Clark of Lexington, S.C. and grandson Richard Clark (Victoria) of West Columbia, S.C. and many nieces and nephews.

 

Mrs. Clark was predeceased by her beloved son Christopher Stuart Clark of West Columbia, S.C. on December 14th, 2002, her parents W.T. & Nettie Lawson, her sister Frances Gregory, her brother Gerald Lawson of Union, S.C. and her sister Ann Callison of West Columbia, S.C.

 

Memorials may be made to Saluda River Baptist Church, 3459 Sunset Blvd, West Columbia, SC 29169.
