John Richard Parrish

Today we are here to celebrate the life of John Richard Parrish. He was born in High Point, NC on March 17, 1955. He moved to St. Petersburg, FL in 1967. In Boy Scouts, he earned Vigil Honor of Order of the Arrow. He graduated from Dixie Hollins High School and was a member of the band where he played tuba and baritone. He went to SPJC, USF, and graduated from Florida Southern College.

Most of his career was spent in the computer industry where he worked in several jobs including building custom computers. Later he taught special needs children. He loved board games, was very quick at trivia, and a chess master. He loved all types of science fiction including Star Trek, Star Wars, and Stargate.

He was a loving father and a doting grandfather. As an Eagle Scout himself, he was very active with his sons’ Boy Scout troop where they each achieved Eagle Scout. He loved Jesus and his family.

After a long illness, he died at 69 on January 26, 2025 in Largo, FL. He is survived by his wife of 47 years Susan; his children, Grace, Chris, Mary, and Michael; his 5 grandchildren; and his 2 sisters Peggy and Laura.

A Memorial service will be Sat. Feb. 8, 10:30 am at Northwest Church in St. Pete, FL.
