Leo Gerald Gendreau
August 16th, 1939 - January 28th, 2025
Leo Gerald Gendreau, born on August 16, 1939, in Fall River, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, in Wesley Chapel, Florida, at the age of 85.
Leo graduated from Diman Vocational High School and began his career as a skilled carpenter. In August 1960, he married the love of his life, Annette Gendreau, and together they shared a remarkable 64 years of marriage. Leo enlisted in the Army National Guard and was activated for service due to the Cuban Missile Crisis. In 1970, Leo and Annette relocated their family to Tampa, Florida, where he established his own successful business as a General Contractor. Over the years, Leo built numerous custom homes and commercial buildings, including the Greater Tampa Realtors office and several restaurants, leaving a lasting legacy in the community.
A man of many talents and passions, Leo became a private pilot and found great joy in flying small airplanes. He also enjoyed playing Cribbage and Scrabble and had a knack for completing puzzles.
Leo is preceded in death by his grandson, Adam Gendreau, and 7 brothers and sisters. He is survived by his beloved wife Annette; his children Susan Cabrera, Robert Gendreau, and Carolyn Gendreau Giunta; his grandchildren Jonathan Cabrera, Alex Ledford, Alana Cabrera, Erin Jeckel, Kenny Lillberg, Matthew Gendreau, Matthew Cabrera, and Michael Gendreau; and his great-grandchildren Addison Ledford, Castiel Lillberg, and Olivia Ledford. He is also survived by his brother Lucien Gendreau. Leo’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
A Catholic Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Land O' Lakes, FL. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. May his memory bring comfort to those who loved him.
