August 9th, 1939 - January 28th, 2025
ViNilda Marie “Mitzi” Schmidt, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025, in Arvada, Colorado. Born on August 9, 1939, in Hays, Kansas, she was the cherished daughter of Robert and Clara Ruder and grew up alongside her siblings.
Mitzi graduated from Hays High School in 1957 and carried with her a lifelong love of learning and community. She married Eugene Schmidt at Our Lady of Grace Church, where they began their journey together rooted in faith and devotion. Their shared life was filled with love. Her faith remained a cornerstone of her life and was a devoted member of St Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Arvada.
She is survived by her youngest brother Gary Ruder (Linda), daughters Rebecca Romero and Tamara Himes. Six grandchildren Christopher Forbes, Joshua Weber (Courtney), Jennifer Davidson, Rachael Downing (Nate), Nicolas Forbes (Amy), Ashleigh Barnes (Aaron) and thirteen great grandchildren and many dearest friends.
Preceded in death by Eugene (spouse), Barbara Forbes (daughter), Robert and Clara (parents) Robert Jr (brother).
