Daniel Mark Reese
September 21st, 1961 - January 21st, 2025
Daniel Mark Reese, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, passed away on January 21, 2025, at the age of 63 after an 11-year battle with frontotemporal dementia.
Dan was born on September 29, 1961, to Alvin and Dorothy of Eugene Oregon.
Dan was extremely athletic and had a passion for anything that gave him an adrenaline rush. From a very young age Dan could be found snowmobiling, skiing, wakeboarding, four wheeling and playing every and all sports. Often Dan would reminisce on his “glory days” of high school football playing with his best friends; friends whom he would keep for the remainder of his life.
Dan, who was always referred to as “Danny” with a million-dollar smile, graduated from Churchill High School in 1980. He went to Lane Community College and worked the family janitorial business on the side. In 1984 he bought his first home in Briarwood Mobile Home Park where he ended up becoming the assistant manager. He kept the nicest yard in the community and his skill set began to shine. Soon, he was helping the neighbors with their yards and truly developed a passion for the trade. Dan at this time was working the janitorial in the evenings, and landscape during the day, and assistant manager on the weekends. He worked extremely hard to get ahead in life.
Dan married Churchill cheerleader Renelle Godfrey on May 2, 1987, and committed to building a beautiful life together with his bride. Shortly after, “Dan's Specialty Service” was founded. He loved his job every day and his customers became his friends. Going to work was a blessing to Dan and he never complained a day in his life.
Dan's greatest love was his family. He built an A-frame cabin near his favorite childhood spot, Crescent Lake, where countless weekends were spent making a dream a reality. Dan loved coaching his kid's youth sports teams and never missed an event, all the while shepherding his family to love the Lord, attend church and serve as often as he saw an opportunity.
Dan is survived by wife Renelle Reese of Eugene, OR children Mickenzie Rodriguez (Devon) of Santa Clarita, CA, Morghan Reese of Portland OR and Mitchell Reese (Alyssa) of Eugene OR. Five grandchildren Alexis, Reagan, Tyson, Remington and Major.
In Lieu of flowers please consider donating to the Dan Reese Scholarship Fund designated to help underprivileged kids in the Churchill community.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday February 26, 2025, at 5pm at the Living Hope Church, 2801 W. 18th Avenue, Eugene OR.
