Born on April 11, 1950, in Winchester County, he proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 25 years, from March 1968 until his retirement in April 1993. During his distinguished military career, he earned several awards and commendations, including the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Navy Achievement Medal, and the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, recognizing his courage and dedication in service to his country. After retiring from the Marines, he continued his life of service as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshall in the Middle District of North Carolina. He later oversaw federal courthouse security for the district. His commitment to protecting others remained steadfast, and he continued to serve his community with honor and integrity.

He also dedicated himself to his faith, family, and community. As a preacher, he led with compassion, spreading love, hope, and strength to those around him. His devotion to the Lord was a cornerstone of his life, and he remained a steadfast source of inspiration for his congregation.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He cherished his family deeply and worked tirelessly to provide for them. His strong work ethic, sense of responsibility, and perseverance were values he instilled in his children, leaving behind a lasting legacy of faith, dedication, and love.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sheila Johnson. He is survived by his children, Angela Pate (Kris), Kenneth Johnson Jr. (Gayle), and Stacey Sears; four grandchildren, Sydney, Sebastian, Riley, and Jackson; and one great-grandchild, Theodore.
