It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Thomas P. Berthiaume, who departed this life on February 3, 2025, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA. Born on January 30, 1946, in Worcester, MA, he was the son of Gaston and Elizabeth (Ollis) Berthiaume.

Thomas proudly served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era, embodying a spirit of courage and dedication that he carried throughout his life. Following his military service, he enjoyed a successful career spanning over three decades as a lineman for Shrewsbury Electric Light, from which he retired in 2000. His commitment to his work was complemented by his myriad interests; he was an avid golfer and a passionate Patriots fan.

Tom was born and raised in Worcester and lived in Shrewsbury for many years until he retired and then moved with his wife Barbara to Stuart, Florida.  In 2015 they decided to move to Granby, MA to be closer to family and have lived there ever since.  Tom was known for his skilled hands, he was a handyman capable of fixing anything. Above all, his family was his pride and joy. Thomas cherished time spent with his grandchildren, ever devoted to his role as a grandfather, enriching their lives with love and wisdom.

Thomas is survived by his beloved wife of 41 years, Barbara (Badgley) Berthiaume, and his loving family, including daughters Renee Mitten and Christine O'Drain, son Keith Berthiaume and stepsons Daniel Moroney and Thomas Moroney. He also leaves behind his two brothers, Jeffrey and Timothy Berthiaume, and two sisters, Marietta Stansky and Beth Dacri, as well as 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaston and Elizabeth (Ollis) Berthiaume and brother Shawn Grimley.

A service of remembrance will be held at the Beers & Story South Hadley Funeral Home on Thursday, February 13th. Calling hours are from 5:00-6:30 pm, followed by a memorial service at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Harmony House of Western Mass, 66 View St, Chicopee, MA 01020.
