Kathryn A. Evans
May 3rd, 1963 - February 4th, 2025
Kathryn A. Evans, 61, of Syracuse passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 with her family by her side, after a very graceful and dignified three year battle with Ovarian Cancer. Kathy enjoyed a 38 year career in banking, beginning in 1986 at Merchants National Bank which later became OnBank and currently M&T Bank. She held several positions including teller, and customer service and retail banking she then went on to become a Relationship Liaison with First Niagara and then as a portfolio administrator at Community Bank, both in their Commercial Lending Departments, before her retirement in June, 2024.
She is predeceased by her parents, Nancy (Vaughn) J. Moore and Earl E. Moore Jr.; and a sister, Kristin R. Moore; Father in law, Alexander Evans and step father in law, Robert L. Miller.
Kathryn is survived by her loving husband and best friend of 36 years, Dean P. Evans; sons, Jordan A. Evans and Marc A. Evans; a sister, Debra S. (Frank Hall) Franz and Cheryl C. (Jim) Brenneis; brother in law, Dale C. (Sharon) Evans; mother in law, Patricia A. Miller; and a very special aunt, Roberta McMahon; nieces, Jennifer (Thomas) Pacheck, Jessica (Jason) Cornish, Alexandra Serrano, Sarah Pacheck, Mary Elizabeth Cornish and great niece, Sophia Mae Fisher; Nephews Stephen McMaster and Kyle (Sarah Singletary) Kiggins, Thomas Pacheck III and Joseph Pacheck ; she also leaves behind her Yorkie, Vinny; her cats, Sammy and Sophia which are her hairy Himalayans; and Kozzi, her inheritance from her sister, Kristin. Her oldest cat of 18 years, Casey, went over the rainbow bridge just after 5 hours of her passing to find his momma.
Kathy loved to read and watch SU football and basketball with her sons, Jordan and Marc. Kathy and her husband Dean enjoyed attending the Indianapolis 500 every year as well as several NHRA Drag Racing Series events around the US. Kathy and Dean loved Las Vegas and vacationed there over 20 times (their home away from home) and Atlantic City wasn’t out of the question either.
Kathy’s family would like to thank Dr. Rinki Agarwal MD, Paula Devendorf NP, Rebekah Gilbert RN and the entire staff at Upstate Cancer Center for their care and compassion as well as the nurses and staff at Crouse Hospital, 4South for their care, compassion and dedication to their patients, every day.
Calling Hours will be Monday, February 10, 2025 from 4-8PM at Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13205. Services will be Tuesday, 10AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Onondaga Valley Cemetery.
