Virginia Ann Callaway
January 25th, 1948 - February 6th, 2025
Virginia Ann Callaway was born on January 25, 1948, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Her battle with cancer concluded on February 6, 2025.
A celebration of Virginia's life will be held at a graveside service on Monday, February 10, 2025, at 1:30 PM at the Parkway Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Her Brother in law, Reverend Tom Harrison, will officiate.
She met Michael Callaway, the man who would become her devoted husband for over sixty years, at his 12th birthday party followed by Jr. High dance. Together, they penned a love story that spanned decades, enriched by the joys of family, travel, and shared interests. Virginia's passion for music and dance was as boundless as her spirit. She and Mike were known for spontaneous jitterbugging — whether in her kitchen to the tunes she loved or in faraway lands to the sound of bagpipes.
Her career as a bookkeeper started at WRBN, a local radio station, and ended in Financial Management at WRAFB. She loved college football, particularly the OU Sooners, and was not above yelling at the television to cheer on her team.
Virginia was a lover of mysteries. She enjoyed reading Agatha Christie and watching her favorite British Whodunits on PBS or the gripping tales of the Hallmark Mystery Channel.
Her family was the heart of her existence. Virginia is survived by her beloved husband, Michael Callaway and her daughter, Lori L. DeBerry ( Alan ). Though she is preceded in passing by her son, Michael Callaway, Jr., her legacy lives on through her grandchildren, Tabitha Callaway and James Callaway( Melissa). Her great-grandchildren, Michael Aiden Callaway and soon-to-be-born Nicolas James Callaway, were the twinkling stars in her galaxy, with young Michael having the unique gift of brightening her world instantly. Virginia will also be missed by her sister Raylene Harrison (Tom) and brother-in-law Ray Coughran.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Lorene Harrison, and her siblings, Jerry Harrison and Bette Coughan.
Virginia Ann Callaway's legacy is one of love, humor, and an enduring zest for life that will continue to inspire all who knew her.
