**Obituary for Gloria Mann**

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria Mann, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world on February 7, 2025, at the age of 78. Gloria was born on December 10, 1946, in Linden, Alabama, to her cherished parents, Mary Jane and Edward Mann. She was a bright light in the lives of all who knew her, and her legacy will forever be etched in our memories.

Gloria's journey began in her hometown of Linden, where she graduated from Linden High School. At a young age, she embarked on a fulfilling career in nursing, dedicating over 45 years to caring for others. Her dedication and compassion shone bright in her work, earning her respect and love from colleagues and patients alike. In 2005, she retired from Long Beach Hospital, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and healing.

In 1987, Gloria married James Elrod, and together they settled in Long Beach, New York, where they welcomed three wonderful children: James Jr., Angie, and Matthew. Their marriage lasted for 13 years, but they remained good friends, showcasing Gloria’s ability to foster lasting relationships.

Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved cousin, James McCray; her cherished great aunt, Latifa McCray; and her dear brothers and sisters. She is survived by her loving spouse, William Mann; her children, Julia, William Jr., Kevin, Angie; and her cherished grandchildren, Jakiya, Layla, Mark, and Cameron. Gloria’s family was her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Gloria had a multitude of interests that brought her joy. She was an avid reader, an enthusiastic colorer who found great peace in her coloring books, and a talented knitter who lovingly crafted blankets for her family. Her stories captivated those around her, and she was an exceptional listener, always ready to lend an ear. Gloria was a woman of deep faith, believing strongly in the power of prayer, which provided her with strength and comfort throughout her life.

Witty and warm-hearted, Gloria was the glue that held her family together. Her ability to make others feel loved and valued was unmatched, and her presence will be sorely missed. Gloria’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends, who will carry her light forward, just as she carried them.

A memorial service to celebrate Gloria’s life will be held in Linden, Alabama. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in honoring a remarkable woman who touched so many lives with her kindness and love. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Gloria's name to a local charity that reflects her passion for helping others.

As we say goodbye to Gloria Mann, we find solace in knowing that her legacy of love, compassion, and faith will continue to inspire us all. Rest in peace, dear Gloria. You will be forever missed.
