Harold Marco Richey, known to friends and family as Hal, passed away peacefully in his bed, surrounded by loved ones, in Nampa, Idaho, on February 4th, 2025, at the age of 77.

Hal dedicated his life to service and adventure. He proudly served his country between 1966 to 1970 in the U.S. Air Force as a Sergeant before continuing his commitment to protecting others as a U.S. Deputy Marshal in Los Angeles from 1973 to 1993 and then as a U.S. Deputy Sheriff between 1994 to 2002 when he retired at 55 years old to continue living his life to the fullest. Beyond his professional life, Hal had a generous spirit, supporting organizations such as St. Jude’s and Tunnel to Towers, among many others.

An adventurer at heart, Hal found joy on the open road riding his motorcycle, carving through the snow on skis, and exploring new places. His easygoing nature and quick wit made him a friend to all, and he had a way of making those around him feel welcome and at ease.

Hal is survived by his son, Robert Richey; his cherished grandchildren, Aurora and Arvid Richey; and his loving end-of-life partner, Julie Roberts. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to St. Jude’s or Tunnel to Towers, organizations close to his heart.
