Cristine Fay Kohring, born to Kent and Virginia Kohring on October 9, 1955, passed away in Bruneau at the family farmhouse.

Chris was raised in Bruneau – Little Valley. She graduated from Mountain Home High School and received a nursing degree from Nebraska Methodist School of Nursing. Chris had a long nursing career of over 36 years. She worked at S. Lukes in Boise at the start of her career then did travel nurse assignments for three years before returning to St. Lukes. She worked in many areas in the hospital including thew emergency room, intensive care, cardiac care and maternity. While Chris was in Boise, she belonged to a quilting club and made many beautiful quilt tops, her precision while making them was exceptional.

After Virginia became wheelchair bound from a spinal stroke, Chris became her caretaker. She lovingly cared for her for 9 years until her passing in 2019.

Chris spent the last years at the old farmhouse living a quiet life. She loved watching the wildlife around the farm. She especially enjoyed the hummingbirds in the spring, the horned owls with their young in the summer and the geese in the fall.

Chris is preceded in death by her parents, Kent and Virginia; brother Gary Kohring of Twin Falls, and many aunts uncles and cousins.

Dan Kohring (Twin Falls) and Yvonne Knoch (Salt Lake City) invite you to a celebration of life for Chris at Rost Funeral Home March 7, 2025, from 2 – 4 pm.

Rost Funeral Home

As the only funeral home in Elmore County, the staff at Rost Funeral Home work hard to be active members of the Mountain Home community and to be there to take care of families in every way possible when the need arises. Our funeral home opened in 2005 when Jerry and Janette Rost purchased the business. We’ve continued to grow along with Mountain Home. Jerry’s career began more than fifty years ago in Boise, and along the way, he acquired an 1897 horse-drawn funeral carriage, which we proudly display in our facility....
