James Glenn Gallagher

James Glen Gallagher, 67, of Tacoma Washington, peacefully passed away on Saturday January 18th, 2025.

James was born on February 21st, 1957, to David and Betty Gallagher in Boise, Idaho. After graduating from Borah High School in 1975, he enlisted in the US Army. During his time in the military, James worked as a diesel mechanic in the motor pool. After the military, he went on to work as an auto mechanic, held multiple positions in the logging industry and was an operator of heavy machinery in the mining industry.

James loved being in the mountains, mentoring others in auto mechanics and spending time with loved ones and pets. He also enjoyed watching football (at times with his eyes closed), doing puzzle books and eating burnt peanut butter cookies.

James is survived by his three children with first wife Judith Pearson: Brandee Gallagher (Roy), Marti Klein (Dustin), David Gallagher; four bonus children with second wife Deborah Greenhalgh: Morgan Todd (David), Catherine Banks (Danny), Jon Banks (Joslynn), Tim Banks (Chrissy); Twenty-one grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

James is also survived by his brother Greg Gallagher (Rita), sisters Cindy Windom (Jim) and Sherri Dennis and sister-in-law Cindy Gallagher.

James is preceded in death by his parents David and Betty Gallagher and brother Brian Gallagher.

James will be recognized for his military service during a military honors and interment service at Tahoma National Cemetery on Friday February 21st at 10:30. There will be Celebration of Life services in Idaho and Washington. They will be announced by the family once they are finalized.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all those who worked tirelessly and cared for James as though he was part of their family.
