Cheryl Darlene Derrick

Cheryl Darlene Derrick, age 61, entered the presence of her Lord and Savior, on February 4, 2025.

She was born on March 5, 1963 in Lancaster, South Carolina to the late George and Evelyn (White) Whigham, Jr. 

Darlene is a graduate of Airport High School, class of 1980. She graduated from Nursing School in 1981 as an LPN and went on to work at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC. Darlene loved her time as a nurse, but often stated that her greatest joy and accomplishment in life was being a mother. 

Darlene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Rick” Derrick, Jr., and her brother Kenny Whigham.

Darlene is survived by her sister, Nancy (Ken) McCall of Greenville, SC; three sisters-in-law, Cindy Whigham of Fort Mill, SC, Anne Johnson of Woodford, SC and Margaret (Larry) Vest of Gaston, SC; her son, Christopher (Courtney) Branham of Lexington, SC; her daughter, Ashleigh Branham of Columbia, SC; step-daughter Sarah Derrick of Hopkins, SC; grandchildren, Jayda Mays, Caroline, Christian, Charlotte and Carson Branham; nieces, cousins and loved ones. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Trinity Baptist Church, Cayce, SC. The family will receive friends and loved ones immediately following the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 2003 Charleston Highway, Cayce, SC 29033.
