JoAnn Phillips
June 14th, 1948 - February 21st, 2021
JoAnn Phillips , 72, of Denver passed away Sunday, Feb. 21, 2021 at Lutheran Hospital with her loved ones by her side. JoAnn lived a life defined by her dedication to serving others which included her family, her friends, her church, and the citizens of her Denver community for much of her life. JoAnn Apodaca was born in Denver, Colorado in 1948 and married the love of her life, Jerry Phillips in 1973. In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, JoAnn served the City of Denver for more than 32 years beginning her career with the Denver City Council and eventually retiring from the City of Denver. Following her retirement, JoAnn dedicated her time to faithfully volunteering for her church and spending time with family and friends. She was a longtime member of the Presentation of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church where she volunteered to help with the St. Vincent De Paul organization, supporting, and providing essentials to, Denver†™s most vulnerable citizens. She also served her community as a board member for the West Denver Community Credit Union and worked on city projects to keep the parks and streets clean. She was preceded in death by her mother, Louise Apodaca. JoAnn is survived by her husband Jerry, her children, Joshua, (Carrie-Ann), Jacob (Alisha) and her grandchildren Amanda, Amando, Mason, Cameron, Joshua and Jacob who were her pride and joy. Services will be held at the Presentation of our Lady Roman Catholic Church on March 4, 2021 with a viewing at 9:30 am, followed by a Rosary at 10:30, and Mass at 11:00. All are welcome and the family asks that you please adhere to COVID guidelines including the wearing of a mask and the observation of proper social distancing. JoAnn will be buried at Ft. Logan Cemetery. Due to COVID, services at Ft. logan will be PRIVATE, family only due to restrictions.
