Judith " Judie " Welborn Bennett
October 30th, 1943 - February 11th, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Judith "Judie" Welborn Bennett, who departed this life on February 11, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on October 30, 1943, in Wilmington, North Carolina, Judie was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother whose life was marked by love, kindness, and a tireless dedication to her family.
Judie's early years in Dunn, NC, laid the foundation for the remarkable woman she was to become. She was known for her kind spirit and generous nature, traits that shone through in every aspect of her life. She saw beauty in the simple pleasures—reading, plants, and observing the birds.
In 1988, Judie embarked on a fulfilling career with Bank of America, where she spent 20 productive years before retiring in 2008.
Judie was a magnificent cook, creating dishes that brought comfort and togetherness to her family. Her ultimate devotion was to her husband, William Pinckney Bennett, whom she had been married to for 58 great years. From that union she had two amazing boys Rad & Chris Bennett. She would become a grandmother, and her grandchildren would become her pride and joy. In Judie’s final years she saw comfort in sending those closest to her special goodnight text messages.
Judie was preceded in death by both of her parents Mr. John T. & Nancy T. Welborn.
Judie is survived by her loving husband, William Pinckney Bennett, her sons, Rad Bennett, Chris Bennett, grandchildren Anabelle Bennett, Elliott Bennett, Kathryn Ann Bennett, sisters Lynda Poll (Wayne) and Nancy Welborn, brother-in-law Charles Bennett (Pat), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who adored her.
To honor her memory and celebrate her life, a service will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 1:30 pm at Hankins and Whittington Funeral Service, located at 1111 East Blvd., Charlotte, North Carolina. Friends and family are invited to join the Bennett family for the visitation immediately following the service, where memories will be shared, and Judie's life will be celebrated with the warmth and love she so generously offered throughout her remarkable life.
Judith "Judie " Welborn Bennett leaves behind a legacy of kindness, family, and love—a testament to a life well-lived and a woman deeply cherished by those who had the honor of knowing her.
