Roy R. Jones, 74, of Summerfield, Florida, passed away on February 10, 2025, in Belleview, Florida. He was born on March 23, 1950, in Rogers, Arkansas, to George and Hazel Jones, who preceded him in death.
Roy spent his early childhood moving across the country with his military family before settling in Kansas, where he attended Washburn Rural High School in Topeka. A hardworking and dedicated professional, he built a lifelong career in construction, working for Dahlstrom & Farrell Construction and The Law Company in Kansas.
After relocating to Florida, Roy continued his career with Williams Company before establishing Roy Jones Construction in the early 1990s. He later joined Walker & Company, Inc., where he dedicated himself to his craft until his retirement in 2015. His unwavering work ethic and passion for construction left a lasting impact on his colleagues and the many projects he helped bring to life.
Above all, Roy was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather. He cherished the time spent with his family and took immense pride in watching his grandchildren grow. In retirement, he found joy in playing golf, fishing, tending to his garden, and caring for his beloved pets. His warmth, humor, and kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sue Ford of Summerfield, Florida; his daughters, Lori Jones of Topeka, Kansas, and Tracie Rio of Lutz, Florida, whom he shared with his former spouse, Mary Crockett of Topeka, Kansas; his grandchildren, Tyler Strunk, Taylor Strunk, Megan Rio, and Anthony (A.J.) Rio Jr.; and four great-grandchildren.
