In Loving Memory of Kelly Adderson Long
Kelly Adderson Long, 85, peacefully went home to his Heavenly Father on February 12, 2025. He was born on January 26, 1940, in Shady Valley, TN, to Hilda and Isaac Long.
While serving in the U.S. Army, Kelly met the love of his life and cherished wife, Patsy, with whom he shared 64 wonderful years. He retired from the Kingsport Press after 35 plus years of dedicated service. Kelly was a devoted husband, father, and Papaw, and his family was the center of his world.
Known for his deep love of the Lord, Kelly began each day with Bible reading and devotion, striving to live a life filled with love, compassion, and unwavering faith. His love for the outdoors was evident in his many hobbies, from restoring old tractors and attending tractor shows to farming, gardening, and camping. He was a dedicated member of Belvue Christian Church in Kingsport, TN, where he served as an elder for many years.
Kelly’s positive outlook, generous spirit, and kind heart left an indelible mark on all who knew him. His incredible work ethic and joyful demeanor will never be forgotten. Above all, Kelly cherished his family, creating countless memories through conversation, adventures, and shared moments of love.
Kelly was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Stuart Long. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years, Patsy Long; two daughters, Lisa Sentell and husband, Lane, and Denise Hensley and husband, Scott; four grandchildren, Ashley Osborne and husband, Matthew, Justin Magdziuk and wife, Amy, Caleb Hensley and wife Rebekah, and Levi Hensley; three great grandchildren, Valoria, Clyde, and Wyatt Magdziuk; four brothers, Huey Long and wife, Linda, Tony Long and wife, Charlene, Lonnie Long, and Kevin Long and wife, Kim; special family members, Carroll and Peggy Long, and uncle Donald Blevins; and many loving nieces, nephews, and family members.
While his family will deeply miss his large presence in their lives, they take comfort knowing that Kelly is now at peace, resting in the arms of his loving Father. He ran the race set before him and finished well, faithful to the end. Rest well Kelly, you are home.
There will be a graveside service scheduled at a later date.
