In Loving Memory

Virginia Carolyn Stanton passed away on February 9, 2025, in Anderson, South Carolina, at the age of 86. She was born on November 27, 1938, in Sumter, South Carolina to John and Virginia Weatherly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 32 years, Kenneth Ray Stanton; and her brother, John Weatherly, Jr.

Virginia graduated from Edmunds High School in Sumter and went on to build a dedicated career as a long-distance telephone operator and phone lineman dispatcher for Southern Bell, AT&T, and Lucent. Her work ethic and commitment were evident throughout her years of service.

Her faith in Jesus Christ was the most important thing in her life. She was known for her mercy and kindness, always offering a sympathetic ear to those who were hurting. She talked to everyone making sure they knew that they were loved by God and that she was praying for them. Alongside her husband Kenneth, she devoted many years teaching in children’s church as well as serving with the youth and nursing home ministries. Her unwavering faith and compassion touched countless lives.

Virginia is survived by her two sons: Ray and his wife Karen, of Lynchburg, Virginia; Danny and his wife Kathy, of Pelzer; and her beloved grandchildren: Joshua and his wife Alexandra; Tori and her husband Josh; Emily and Maddy.

Visitation will be held on February 22, 2025, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm followed by a funeral service at 1pm. Both will be held at New Life Baptist Church, 2825 Ashland Rd., Columbia, SC 29210. The burial will follow at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd., Lexington, SC 29072.

Her legacy of faith and kindness will be cherished by all who knew her.
