It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Dearal W. Beddo on February 6, 2025, at the age of 97.  Dearal passed peacefully in his home of 47 years located near Platteville, Colorado.

Dearal began his life July 10, 1927 in Ballinger, Texas, the son of Gus Beddo and Victoria (Paske) Beddo.  His father worked in road construction which created a nomadic lifestyle where Dearal attended numerous schools across Texas.  He graduated from Roby High School in Roby, Texas in 1945 and was immediately drafted into the US Army where he joined the 82nd Airborne Division as a paratrooper.  He was deployed to Alaska as part of Task Force Frigid to protect Americas northern border and participated in numerous subzero operations and jumps.

After his discharge in 1947 Dearal went on to attend Texas Tech University and graduated in 1950 majoring in Geology and was immediately hired as a geophysicist by Stanolind Oil and Gas (now Amoco BP).  After 26 years with Amoco, Dearal formed Geoscience Petroleum Services Corporation providing geophysical data acquisition and data processing services.  He also co-founded Aceite Energy Corporation in 1979.

When not working, Dearal enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, motor home camping and an extensive model train collection.  In his later years as his blindness took over he somehow was still able to drive his Polaris Ranger (which he called ”Blue”) around his farm without hitting anything.

Dearl served as the President of the Brownsville Water District, Meadow Island No. 2 Ditch Company and other entities.

Dearal is survived by his wife of almost 74 years, Mary Lou Beddo, children Michael Beddo (Marilyn) and Suzanne Graf, grandchildren Melissa Hernandez (Fernando), Jessica Ingram, Christopher Beddo (Aubrie), Brandy Beddo, Alexa Graf and Gabe Graf, great grand children Ryder Ingram, Raegen Ingram, Caymen Hernandez, Keelyn Beddo, Conlan Beddo, Rylynn Beddo, Roslyn Beddo, Caitlin Beddo and great great grandchild Sutton Ingram.  He is also survived by his sister, Molly Zimmerman.  Dearal was preceded in death by his brothers James and Clinton Beddo, his sister Katy Mae Beddo and his son Jerry Lee Beddo.

Donations can be made to the Curtis Strong Center for the Visually Impaired (https://ensightskills.org/donate/) or to the Country Gospel Cowboy Church located in Johnstown, Colorado (https://countrygospelcowboychurch.com/).
