Dennis K. Blachly

Dennis K Blachly, 70, passed away on Saturday, Feb 15, 2025. A funeral service is scheduled for Sunday, February 23, 2025 at 3 PM in the chapel of Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory.  A visitation will be held one hour prior between the hours of 2 PM and 3 PM. Burial will be private at Parkway Memorial Gardens. Pastor Grover Jewell will officiate.

Dennis was born Dec 25, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri. He enjoyed many sports as a kid, including little league baseball and competitive swimming. After graduating high-school at Brookfield East outside of Milwaukee, he achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, where he was a member of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity. Dennis spent the majority of his career working for OMI accomplishing multiple large scale water purification projects. He was honored throughout his career with many awards for his engineering accomplishments. This work took him to international locations as well as domestic locations, making sure communities had access to clean water. Dennis was proud to lead the team whose work resulted in OMI receiving the Malcom Braldridge Award. Dennis had a passion for serving those around him utilizing his talents as an engineer, and fellow man. With his wife Nancy, he helped practice reforestation farming.

Dennis loved music and was an accomplished bass player in several bands. He loved country music, and achieved, alongside Nancy, the "Hall of Honor" award at the Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame. He looked forward to Saturdays when he could share his love of music with his band mates and friends as a member of the house band at Powersville Opry, where he was the Chairman/President of the Board of Directors. Dennis was also a cherished member of the Lions Club of Byron Georgia, and an active auxiliary member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Nancy J. Hagopian Blachly; brother, David Blachly residing in Dallas, Texas with his partner, Deborah Collins; sister, Bonnie Blachly and Lynn Kuhlman residing in Florida; niece,  Jenny Ayers and her husband, Vance and children, Kadence and Micah.

In lieu of flowers Dennis wanted donations given to Powersville Opry, 390 Perry Hwy, Hawkinsville, GA 31036 and/or Cornerstone Bible Fellowship Church, 10157 Hwy 341, Fort Valley, GA 31044.
