Harry D. Heeg
December 29th, 1927 - February 8th, 2025
Harry D. Heeg passed away at the Western Hills Health Care Center in Lakewood, CO on February 8, 2025 at the age of 97. Harry was born in Howell, MI on December 29, 1927 to George and Leah (Peavy) Heeg. He was the youngest of four siblings, Charles, Stanley, and Sybil, all previously deceased.
Upon graduation from Howell High School, Harry enlisted in the Navy, serving from 7/2/1946 – 6/30/1949. He was a proud WWII Veteran, who was thrilled to be selected by Rocky Mountain Honor Flight, at the age of 90, for a trip to Washington D.C. to view the various War Memorials. Following military service, Harry graduated from Michigan State (College) University with an Associates Degree in Farm Equipment Sales and Service.
During his time at Michigan State, Harry met nursing student Phyllis A. Radford on a “blind date”. They were married on September 8, 1951. They became parents to David, Cindy, and Cathy. In 1959, Harry and Phyllis moved from Michigan to settle in Alexandria, Minnesota, where they lived until Phyllis passed away in 2014.
Harry is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, son David, and wife Phyllis. He is survived by daughters, Cindy Vadeboncoeur (Philip), and Cathy Heeg, granddaughter, Katie Braswell (Sam), grandsons, Tony Heeg (Rebecca), Max Vadeboncoeur (Amy), and Alex Vadeboncoeur, and great- granddaughters, Nora Vadeboncoeur, Grace Heeg, and Skylar Braswell.
Harry enjoyed a long career selling various types of farm equipment and supplies. He traveled thousands of miles driving country roads in the upper midwest, joking that his office was at the kitchen tables of his farm clients, where he shared countless cups of coffee and an occasional meal while conducting business. Harry was an avid golfer and was a long time member of the Alexandria Golf Club in Alexandria, Minnesota. His favorite pastime was to spend time with family and friends doing anything, but especially backyard BBQ’s, golfing, camping, ice fishing or deer hunting.
We hold on to his love and will miss him dearly.
