Remembering Joyce Marie Schneider  

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Joyce Marie Schneider, a loving mother, devoted Nana, and cherished friend. Joyce was born on October 16, 1950, in Nebraska, and on January 31, 2025, she left this world surrounded by love. 

Joyce grew up with a strong spirit and a kind heart, graduating from Hilhi in 1969. She dedicated many years of hard work at GAF, View-Master, Tyco, and Mattel before finishing her career with the Oregon Courts, retiring in 2016. But her true passion was never her job—it was her family. 

Joyce was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Tom, whom she married on December 28, 1977. They built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. She also joins her parents, Hollis and Rena Nunnenkamp, who raised her to be the incredible woman she was. 

She leaves behind a legacy of love in her daughters and their spouses, Hollie and Jason Palmer, and Jodee and Wayne McConnell. Being a mother was Joyce’s greatest joy, but becoming a Nana to Preston, Riley, Meadow, and Brianna was her greatest reward. She was their biggest fan—whether cheering on the sidelines at their games, celebrating their achievements, or simply offering warm hugs and wise words. 

Joyce’s heart was as big as her laugh, and she shared it with everyone she met. She loved dancing, boating, and spending time with family and friends. The Hillsboro Elks Lodge #1862 became a second home, where she devoted her time to helping others and building friendships that lasted a lifetime. And of course, there was her dog, Jax, her loyal walking buddy, always by her side, and one older brother.  

Joyce’s kindness, warmth, and unwavering support touched so many lives. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. 

To honor her memory, the family asks that donations be made to How Can We Help? in care of the Hillsboro Elks Lodge #1862, a cause close to her heart. 

A celebration of Joyce’s beautiful life will be held at a later date. Until then, let us remember her in the way she would want—with love, laughter, and a little dancing.
