John Freeman Myrick, Jr.
February 2nd, 1958 - February 15th, 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of John Freeman Myrick, Jr. on February 15, 2025 in Columbia, South Carolina. John was born on February 2, 1958 in Greenville, South Carolina.
He was a Fleet Sales Associate at Love Chevrolet for over 20 years before retiring in 2023. John was a long time leader in the Shandon Neighborhood Council and with the Boy Scouts Troop Eight for over 20 years where he helped to develop multiple generations of Eagle Scouts, including both of his sons. John was also an avid supporter of outdoor conservation organizations such as the National Wild Turkey Federation and DNR. Additionally, he enjoyed surf fishing at the beach every year and sharing his countless fishing stories.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 37 years, Ruth Dobbins Myrick and his two sons, John Freeman Myrick III and Pierce Hammond Myrick. He is also survived by his extended family who will all greatly miss him.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Freeman Myrick Sr. and mother, Fannie Lou Carden Myrick.
Funeral services will be held on March 8, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 1100 Sumter St, Columbia, SC 29201. A reception will be held in Satterlee Hall immediately following the service.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society located at 200 Center Point Circle, #100, Columbia, SC, 29210.
