Windolyn "Rene" Jones

Windolyn “Rene” Jones, of Statesville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025. She was born on July 27, 1966, to Sharon G. Jones and Johnny Walker in Jacksonville, Florida. Rene discovered her passion for basketball at a young age. She attended Plainfield High School, where she was a beloved basketball star. After graduating in 1984, she attended Saint Paul College on a full basketball scholarship. She also served in the United States Army and worked as a security guard for many years. 

Rene's early years were marked by her dedication to the sport and her unwavering commitment to excellence, both on and off the court. She was known for her incredible work ethic and her ability to make everyone in her presence laugh. 

Rene loved her family deeply. She is survived by two devoted sisters, Angela Edwards (Rick) and Patricia Sales (Jerome); Her beloved aunt, Gwyn Braddy-Green, cousins: Michelle Weaver, Monique Weaver (Hazz), Tamika Bass, Erica Weaver, Darrell Crane, Jamar Braddy (Zebia), Dante Thorne (Amber), and Nicholas Charleston; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

Rest in peace, Rene. Your legacy will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to witness your greatness. 

A memorial service will be held at Tribute & Tallent Funerals & Cremations, 1937 N. Sharon Amity Road, Charlotte, NC, 28205, on Friday, February 21st, at 2:30 PM.
