Carrie Hardy
June 29th, 1946 - February 11th, 2025
Carrie Hardy (née Register) went home to be with the Lord on February 11, 2025, in Phoenix, AZ. Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on June 29, 1946, to the late Beatrice (née Chalmus) and Raymond Register, the celebration of Carrie’s life is quite remarkable.
From an early age, Carrie was a gifted fashion designer and often created her own clothing patterns.
Carrie had a kind heart, was a God-fearing, strongwoman, and was affectionately called “Tootsie” or “Toots” by family and close friends. In her early years, she was educated in the public-school systems of Philadelphia and Atlantic City. She continued her education and eventually earned her PhD from Purdue University.
Carrie was a phenomenal woman who in 2011, while battling Lupus successfully became the founder and director for the Endowment for Lupus Awareness in the Phoenix, Arizona Metropolitan Area. She was also instrumental in obtaining a proclamation on April 14, 2020, designating May as Lupus and Autoimmune Education Month.
Carrie was the youngest of four siblings, the mother of two twins and a daughter Michelle Wing who preceded her in death. She leaves behind six children to cherish her memory: Paul Register (Annette), Charlene Callender-McCulley (Chris), Adriane Holcombe (Eric), Percy E. Wing (Glenda), Jeanine Wing (Tom), and Stacy L. Jones (Quinton). She is also survived by 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life service will be held in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday, March 7, 2025, at Samaritan Funeral Home & Cremation, 1505 McDowell Road, Phoenix, Arizona from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (GMT). “We will see you on the other side mommy.” 1 Thessalonians 4:17.
As Carrie often said, ‘Have faith in other people and provide whatever they need.’ In lieu of flowers, we ask that you honor her memory by exemplifying her spirit by being kind to one another, help each other whenever you can, and remember that even a simple smile or kind word can make a world of difference.”
