In Loving Memory

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Edna Robbins Palmer, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at the age of 78. Edna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend who touched the lives of all who knew her with her kindness, warmth, and unwavering spirit.

Edna will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Bill Palmer, her son Bret Palmer, her cherished granddaughter Dakota Brainard, and great-granddaughter Skylee Brainard. She is also survived by her beloved brother, Robbie Robbins. Edna's passing leaves a void in the lives of her friends and extended family, including the Meadowlark Monarchs team, her companions in the Women’s Club, and the lifelong friendships she cultivated with the girls at the Coterie Club.

Edna was predeceased by her parents, Grady Robbins and Lola Robbins, whose love and guidance helped shape the woman she became. Her family and friends take comfort in knowing that her legacy of love and generosity will live on in those she leaves behind.

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Edna was a proud graduate of East Forsyth High School, where she first met the love of her life, Bill. Their enduring love story began in their teenage years and flourished for nearly six decades. Edna went on to attend High Point College, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in education. It was her passion for teaching that led her to a rewarding career in the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school system, where she dedicated over 30 years to educating and inspiring countless students.

In 1970, Edna and Bill, along with their young son Bret, moved to Kernersville, where she continued to serve her community with the same devotion and care she gave her family. Her impact as a teacher and a role model to her students will never be forgotten.

Edna was a member of Friedland Moravian Church, where she found spiritual fulfillment and friendship. Her faith guided her throughout her life.

A visitation service to honor Edna’s life will be held from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Friday, February 21, 2025, at Pierce-Jefferson Funerals and Cremations – Kernersville Chapel, located at 213 W. Mountain St., Kernersville, NC 27284. A funeral service celebrating Edna’s remarkable life will take place at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Friedland Moravian Church, 2750 Friedland Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107, with Pastor John G. Rights officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, where Edna will be laid to rest.

Memorial donations may be made to Friedland Moravian Church, a place that meant so much to Edna throughout her life.

Edna's family and friends will forever carry her memory in their hearts, as they remember her as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, teacher, and friend—an extraordinary woman whose life was filled with compassion, grace, and faith.
