William Ben Miller, M.D. William Ben Miller, 96, died peacefully in his sleep at his Evergreen home on 10/30/21. He loved his Savior, his wife and his family. He leaves behind many friends and colleagues that he cared for greatly. Ben was born at a †œlaying in† hospital in Denver on 09/02/1925. He lived in Denver and Salt Lake for short times but mainly grew up in Billings, Montana where he graduated from Billings High School. Soon after, with World War II raging, he enlisted in the Army as a combat medic. He served in France, Germany and Austria. Near the end of his service, he was able to attend the Nuremberg trials. Once honorably discharged, he attended Dartmouth and Johns Hopkins Medical Schools on the G.I. Bill. While at Johns Hopkins, he met his future wife, Jean Webster. They were married on March 14, 1953 in Dundalk, Maryland. The newlyweds moved to Denver and Ben completed his residency at The Children†™s Hospital. He started a private pediatric practice in Lakewood which continued for 38 years. He touched many lives through his medical practice. He did his own hospital rounds and was known to make an occasional house call or an after hour†™s visit at his office. After retiring from private practice he worked for MEPs and along with Jean volunteered at Children†™s. Ben was a committed Christian and served in many volunteer positions through his churches. He raised his family at Holy Cross Lutheran Church and hosted/chaperoned many youth gatherings. He was an usher, deacon, and medical missionary at Riverside Baptist Church. His missions took him to Eastern Europe, Cambodia and Indonesia. He and Jean were involved in Sunday School and prayer groups at Riverside until they were unable to drive that far. They then attended Evergreen Lutheran Church. He made lifelong friends at all churches. Dr. Ben was well loved by many. Ben was a devoted and caring family man. He raised six children in Lakewood often taking them swimming, skiing and sledding. He was famous for his road trips; he never wanted to come back the way he drove out. Return trips often involved lengthy †œshort cuts†. When his children were grown, he moved to Evergreen to live alongside deer, elk, and other wildlife. He was a fixture at sporting events, concerts, performances, and graduations for both his children and grandchildren. Ben was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Jean. He is also preceded by his daughter Barbara, his infant son Jeffry Scott, his parents Harry and Helen Miller, and his brother Harry Miller. Ben is survived by his children: Deborah Miller, Nancy (Alfred) Wellnitz, Bill Miller, Bethann (Jeff) Sigman, and Amy Miller. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Will (Nicole) Miller, Bailey (Zack) Schrag, Abbie Sigman and Becky Sigman. His family is thrilled he was able to meet his great grandchildren: Ben Miller and Jameson Schrag. He is also missed by his nephews and many cousins.
