In Loving Memory
Joy Boyer Thompson, 81, of Cayce, SC, peacefully passed away on February 17, 2025. Born on October 31, 1943, in the quaint town of Chattahoochee, GA, Joy was a cherished soul and an embodiment of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community.
Joy’s life journey began in the nurturing arms of her parents, Stanley and Betty (Foley) Boyer. She grew up surrounded by love and values that she carried throughout her life, touching the hearts of many. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alex Thompson, and her dear daughter, Charlotte Thomas, whose memories she treasured dearly.
A pillar of strength and affection, Joy is survived by her daughter, Joyce Jeffcoat, and her grandchildren—Ashley Sharpe, Noell Roach, Josh Goldman, and Alex Goldman—each of whom held a special place in her heart. Her legacy further extends to her great-grandchildren: Evan and Zola Clark, Colby and Lily Roach, Jacob, Brinley, Emmerson Goldman, Layton, Alaina, Aubrey, and Addison. She also leaves behind Sunday, her beloved bird, who was a constant companion and source of joy.
Joy was a vibrant personality who delighted in the simple pleasures of life. Her frequent visits to the Riverbank Zoo were a testament to her love for nature and animals. She also had an undeniable passion for gardening. A devout member of her church, Joy actively participated in church events and believed in the power of community service, always ready to extend a helping hand or a warm smile to those in need.
Her passing leaves a void that is felt deeply by her family and friends, yet her spirit continues to live on in the memories and love she shared with all. Joy will be dearly missed, but her legacy of kindness and love will forever remain in our hearts.
A visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington, SC, on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 12 PM to 1 PM, followed by a funeral service from 1 PM to 2 PM. Pastor David Spears will officiate the service. Interment will follow at Celestial Memorial Gardens, where loved ones will bid farewell to a beautiful soul who touched countless lives.
