With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of William Alan Mackie, known to most as Bill, who left this world on February 2, 2025, at the age of 66. Bill was born in Long Beach, California, and later made his home in Puyallup, Washington.

A hardworking man, Bill built a career as a union painter, but his true passions were found outdoors. Whether he was fishing, hunting, or collecting coins and firearms, he was happiest by the river, surrounded by nature. Those who knew him best would say he had the soul of a chef—cooking was his way of showing love, and he took great joy in preparing meals for friends and family.

Bill attended Lake Superior State College in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. In 1984, he married Kimberly Marie Kirby, and together they raised two wonderful daughters, Mallory and Megan. Though life took them in different directions, his love for his family was unwavering. His faith was also a guiding force in his life, and he found comfort in worship and his relationship with the Lord.

Bill is preceded in death by his father, Richard Alan Mackie. He is survived by his loving mother, Sharon Iris Mackie; his brother, John(Debbie) Mackie; his sisters, Torri Houston and Rae(Jim) Hibbits; and his daughters, Mallory Marie Mackie and Megan(Justin) Jane Ellis. He leaves behind countless memories and a legacy of warmth, generosity, and devotion to those he loved.

In remembrance of Bill, the family encourages acts of kindness, a shared meal with loved ones, or a quiet moment by the water—just as he would have wanted.

Bill, your presence will be deeply missed, but your love and spirit will live on in those who knew you.
