Bonita L. Hartmann, born December 29, 1955 passed gladly into Jesus’ waiting arms on February 8, 2025. Survived by niece Sara (Andrew) Sawyer, nephew Jason, and grand nephews Jack and Sam. Preceded in death by father Wilbert, mother Marvel, brother Steven and sister Leslie.

 

Bonita played guitar for many years everywhere she went, playing gospel, pop and folk music. Her favorite was Peter, Paul & Mary.

 

Bonnie battled with mental illness 30+ years and worked diligently to erase the stigma of mental illness. Bonnie claimed that it is imperative that substance abuse be treated first. By the grace of God, she found recovery through AA, DBT, and the Catholic Church. Bonnie became a friend of Bill W. June 26 2002.

 

Bonnie began reading the Bible at age 16 and became a born again Christian and continued to read the bible for the rest of her years. Born Protestant, in 2001, Bonnie joined the Catholic Church and was called several times to serve Jesus. She was joyfully professed into the Order of Secular Franciscans on April 29, 2012.

 

Visitation and Fransiscan Wake – Thursday Feb. 27th 5-7PM, Funeral - Friday Feb. 28th 11 AM, Visitation 10AM all at the Church of St Bonaventure 901 E 90th St Bloomington, MN 55420.
