Raquel Candia
May 18th, 1944 - February 10th, 2025
Raquel Candia, affectionately known as Kelly, age 80, of Fairfax, Virginia, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, Virginia.
She was born on May 18, 1944, in Potosi, Bolivia. She is the daughter of the late Maria Beltran, and stepdaughter of the late Felix Parrado.
Raquel was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 30 years, Jaime Candia. Together, they raised their beloved pets, whom they loved as children, Chester, Chispita, and Casper.
Raquel’s favorite past times included spending time with her husband and pets, traveling internationally, playing card games, listening to music, and documenting her life through photographs. She was an avid follower of local sports teams, namely the Washington Redskins. She attended services at her local Catholic church, St. Leo the Great.
Raquel is survived by her brothers, Jorge Parrado and Luis Parrado, sisters-in-law, Mirtha Parrado and Bertha Parrado, nieces and nephews, Jorge Fabian Parrado, Alvaro Parrado, Monica Angel, Luisito Parrado, and Alex Parrado, nephew-in-law Albert Angel, grand-nieces Marianne Servin and Emily Servin, and her late husband’s surviving family. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, February 21, 2025, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Fairfax, Virginia with Fr. Thomas Nguyen officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Memorial Park in Fairfax County, Virginia.
Friends may visit from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 20, 2025, at Advent Funeral & Cremation Services, 7211 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22046
Raquel’s family will serve as pallbearers.
