Bruce Alton Nichols
March 20th, 1933 - November 27th, 2021
On Saturday November 27th, 2021 Bruce A. Nichols, Sr. passed away in Thornton, Colorado. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather; he has returned to the loving arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bruce was born on March 20th, 1933 in Marshall County, Iowa to Wilmer and Mary (Woollard) Nichols. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John, Richard and Phillip, his sister Mary Ann (Nichols) Terry, and Son-in-Law David Baize. He is survived by his wife Viola, children Bruce Jr. (Deb), Twila, and Monty (Suzanne). Grandchildren Heather (Justin) Townsend, Jarom, and Hannah. Great grandchildren Blaine, Kallie, and Coltin Townsend, Abbey and Daniel Nichols. He is also survived by his brother Charles (Ann), brother-in-law Jim Terry, sisters Beverly (Richard) Getz and Rosalie Riggs, sister-in-law Wilma Nichols, as well as many Nieces and Nephews. Bruce graduated Valedictorian from Rhodes High School in 1951 Marshal County, Iowa. Bruce moved to Brighton, Colorado with his parents and younger siblings in 1952. On July 9th, 1955 Bruce married Viola Mae Sater and they enjoyed 66 years of marriage. They raised three children Bruce Jr., Twila, and Monty. He worked in Agriculture at Great Western Sugar, Kuners, and the Federal government as a mailman for 20 years. In 1961 Bruce moved his family to Longmont and went to work for the Longmont Post Office. In 2016 Bruce and Viola moved to their daughter†™s house in Thornton, Colorado. Bruce had a passion for gardening; many people would walk by admiring his garden filled with vegetables, fruit trees, grapes, and flowers. Bruce and Viola would can and freeze vegetables for winter stores. They also enjoyed sharing the harvest with family, friends, and neighbors. Bruce played the piano most of his life, enjoyed reading westerns, and studying the Scriptures. He was an Elder and served as Pastor in the Church of Jesus Christ Longmont Restoration Branch for many years. He will be greatly missed by his family but we know that he has returned to his Lord Jesus Christ.
