Margaret Joyce Roos

Margaret (Marge) Roos, 91, died Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at Bright Assisted Living in Windsor, CO. She was born to Gerrit and Jennie (Kooiker) Oostenbrug on July 16, 1925 in Hull, Iowa. She was one of twelve children. On September 6, 1944, she married Donald (Jack) Roos in Reno, Nevada during a Navy leave. They made their first home in San Francisco. After a two-year stint with the Navy, they made their home in Iowa where they owned and operated a weekly newspaper. In 1957 they moved their family to Eaton, Colorado and in 1970 moved to Greeley, Colorado. Marge enjoyed and dearly loved her family. They spent many happy weekends in their beloved Colorado Rocky Mountains, camping, hiking and fishing. Over the years, she enjoyed golfing, sewing, and playing bridge. Marge was a member of the First Congregational Church in Greeley. After retiring as a receptionist from the Northern Colorado Residency Program, that was under the direction of Dr. David Bates, she volunteered at NCMC. Marge is survived by her children, Jana (Nick) Skerman of New Zealand, Lynn Helzer of Windsor, Joel (Cherie) Roos of Platteville, and David (Sara) Roos of California; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; siblings, Edith Kammerer of Greeley, and Keith Oostenbrug of Spirit Lake, Iowa. Marge is preceded in death by her husband, Jack; a son-in-law, Gerald Helzer; grandchildren, Michael Helzer and Daniel Roos. A family memorial & celebration of life is pending.
