Elizabeth A. Jones

Elizabeth (Betty) Anne Jones, 77 of Greeley, passed away on February 2, 2017, at Fair Acres Manor in Greeley, CO following a long illness. Betty was born on Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia, Canada to John and Erma Jones on June 4, 1939. After high school, Betty emigrated to the U.S. to pursue a life-long career in childcare. In 1976, Betty moved in with Diane Peake. She lived with Diane for more than 40 years in both Englewood, NJ and Greeley, CO. In 1990, Betty became a U.S. citizen. In New Jersey, Betty helped raise several lucky children, including Diane's daughter, Renee, and the daughters of close friends Anne and Louis Bigliani, Anne-Louise and Suzi. Her unique personality charmed and bemused those who knew her. Although Betty did not have children of her own, she played a major role in the lives of her three chosen girls. She walked her Westies, Piper and Duffy, around Glenmere Park for decades, and enjoyed gardening, shopping, parties, crafts, writing letters, and "directing". Cooking and cleaning—not so much. Betty is survived by her close friends Diane Peake, Anne and Louis Bigliani, Renee and Kostas Marousis, Anne-Louise and Tom Nieto, Suzi and J Hlavacek, and three "grandchildren.” She also is survived by her Canadian family, Tom (Lou) Jones, Kenny (Judy) Jones, Dennis (Pat) Jones, Mina Johnson, and her late brother Spencer’s wife Phyllis, and their children and grandchildren. A celebration of her life is planned for later in the Spring, 2017. Goodbye, dear, dear friend. Wiggywiggywiggy.
