Diane Lynn Wood

Diane Lynn Wood, born on February 24, 1956, in Marquette, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025, in Sun City, Arizona. She was 68 years old.

Diane was the cherished daughter of Edward and Georgia Fezzey, both of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, Marty Wood; her beloved children, Shawn (Jennifer) Wood and Janell Wood; her treasured grandchildren, Savannah Wood, Ashton Wood, and Logan Wood; and step-grandchildren, James Dore and Markenzie Dore. Diane also leaves behind her siblings: Michael Fezzey, David (Dawna White) Fezzey, Paul Fezzey, Karen (Ernesto) Levario, and Angel (Robert) Foss. She is further remembered by her father-in-law, Harland Wood; brother-in-law Todd Wood; sister-in-law Ellen (Mark) Lambrecht; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Diane was predeceased by her mother-in-law, Faye Wood.

Diane spent much of her childhood in Tucson, Arizona, before returning to Marquette to complete high school. A proud graduate of Marquette Senior High School’s Class of 1974, she followed in her mother’s footsteps in the nursing field by pursuing a career as a nurse’s aide. After marrying Marty and welcoming their son Shawn in 1977, the family relocated to Phoenix, Arizona, where they were blessed with their daughter Janell in 1981.

In 1994, Diane transitioned from her nursing career to focus on being a stay-at-home mother. Her greatest joy came in 2002 when she became a grandmother—a role she embraced wholeheartedly for the next two-plus decades. Diane’s life was defined by her unwavering love and devotion to her family. Her warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

Diane will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for the love she so generously shared with those around her. May her memory bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.

Funeral service will take place on March 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church 9728 W Palmeras Dr, Sun City, AZ 85373.
