David “Dave” Alan Rosinbum passed away on February 12, 2025 at the age of 76 with his children nearby. He readily follows his beloved wife, Rebecca “Becky” Rosinbum (2017), his parents, Andy and Doris Rosinbum (2017), and his sisters, Cindy Harness (2020) and Lynn Howden (2024).  David is survived by his children, Kevin Rosinbum and Sarah Furtick, and his grandchildren, Jillian and Joseph Furtick, of Olympia, WA.

Dave was born June 7, 1948 in Yakima, WA and raised on the family orchards near Cowiche and Tieton, WA. He graduated with Bachelor of Arts from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, where he met Becky, the love of his life. They were married in 1971 in Thousand Oaks, CA, home to Becky’s family, and the pair settled in Cowiche to begin their new family.

Dave began his lifelong career with the US Forest Service on a survey crew at the nearby Naches Ranger District where he made some of his closest, most enduring friends. His keen interest in early computer technology led to his administering of systems at the Naches station. Dave’s savvy tech abilities led him and his young family to Wenatchee, WA, and additionally sent him on short tech missions to many other USFS offices and ranger districts across the country. Dave’s work was singular and provided he and Becky wonderful opportunities to travel to Italy and Thailand, where he implemented systems for forestry organizations abroad. Later, when the children were grown, Dave’s USFS career allowed he and Becky to relocate to Eugene, OR, and then Albuquerque NM for more fantastic adventures. In 2012 Dave wrapped up his time with the US Forest Service and retired in Olympia, WA, a perfect jumping off point between family, orchards, forests, and coast.

An avid weather-nut, Dave knew the difference between cumulus and “puffy” clouds. He was a lover of Star Trek and could quote The Wrath of Khan from beginning to end. He had the greenest of green-thumbs and though he grew nearly everything, his favorites were African Violets, Geraniums, all varieties of roses, and the most delicious tomatoes. Known to family and friends as an incredible home baker, many adored his fresh bread loaves and plates of cinnamon rolls. Dave possessed an easy, unassuming and quiet Faith in God, Spirit and Christ that never wavered and never boasted; this Faith sustained him throughout life. His smile was easy, frequent and genuine. He possessed a deep, spiritual connection to the Washington and Oregon coasts, shared equally by his family. Dave and his family found unending solace in the salt air, pounding surf, and quiet rain forest of Kalaloch and beyond. Additionally, Dave treasured his continuous adventures with Becky (including Alaska and France and more!), and together they toured extensively across much of North America in their small RV, visiting as many friends, family and places of dear beauty as they could reach.

Those who knew David can vouch that he was not one to sit still or to ruminate on life’s troubles; a four-year battle with cancer coupled with tremendous family loss tested his endurance and his soul, but he daily strived to meet it with the same positivity for which he was always known. His warmth, his welcome, and his honest smile will be deeply missed. Those who survive him are at peace knowing he is reunited with dear family, and most especially his beloved Becky.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that any donations in memory of Dave would be made to https://www.nationalparks.org/ in his memory. Thank you

David, Dave, Pa, Pops, Pappy… We love him always, as he boldly goes.
