Rose Marie Hollenbeck
July 4th, 1939 - February 6th, 2025
I have an angel watching over me. She is my mom. To my mother in heaven, thank you for always loving me and guiding me. Even though you are no longer here with me I can still feel your love guiding me.
Rose Marie (Dalton) Hollenbeck was born on July 4, 1939 in Illinois to Frank and Mary Dalton. She passed away surrounded by her family on February 6, 2025 at Providence Portland Medical Center. Her family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1940 to work at the shipyards when she was a baby, so she always considered herself an Oregonian. She graduated from Washington High School in 1957. She then received her Licensed Practical Nurse Degree, and worked at the VA Hospital and Providence Medical Center. She married LaVerne Hollenbeck and had her beloved daughter Julie in 1967. She divorced in 1972 and never remarried. She gave of her time to many organizations including delivering meals to Loaves and Fishes, her church, and taught Sunday school to hundreds of children over the years. She touched many lives with her smile, love and positive attitude. She was a member of New Hope Community Church for 50 years. She was a faithful follower of Christ and loved him with all her heart. It gives your family peace, knowing you’re with your maker, and welcomed with open arms from those who went before you.
Rose is survived by her only child, Julie Newman of Gresham, son-in-law Jim Newman, and grandchildren Michael Hollenbeck and Sarah Rose Hollenbeck of Gresham. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
