Michael Thomas Flannery

Michael Thomas Flannery of Melbourne, Florida, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on February 3, 2025 at the age of 85. Mike is survived by his wife, Betty Flannery, and was father to Roger Panetta (Heidi), Jeanine O'Kane (Daniel), Maureen Weinert (Matthew), and Meghan Flannery, and grandfather to Amy Panetta. 

Mike, the son of the late Michael Flannery and Margaret Hand, was born in the Bronx, NY in 1939, and proudly served in the US Army National Guard from 1955-1967. Following a distinguished career as a telecommunications systems administrator with New York Telephone, Bell Atlantic, NYNEX, and Verizon, Mike and Betty moved to Melbourne in 2002, and spent their retirement years in Mike's favorite place - Florida. Mike dedicated much of his free time to volunteer work, serving with the New City Fire Engine Co. No.1 beginning in 1976, eventually serving as their president from 1993-1994. In retirement, Mike enjoyed taking cruises with his family, and continued his volunteer work with the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 17-6. 

A mass will take place on March 6, 2025 at Saint John the Evangelist Church at 11am, with interment to follow at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint Francis Reflections Hospice Care Center would be greatly appreciated.
