Waldemar Blaschke
November 5th, 1948 - February 15th, 2025
The world is a little quieter today, a little less bright, and a whole lot less fun. Waldemar, a larger-than-life soul who lived and loved without limits, has left behind a legacy as bold and unforgettable as he was.
Legacy
Born on November 5, 1948, in Valenciennes, France, Waldemar proved to be a force of nature and larger than life in every way. His generosity knew no bounds and his wisdom guided many. Waldemar approached every challenge with determination, every triumph with humility, and every person with kindness.
Born to defy expectations, Waldemar never did anything halfway. He loved fiercely, laughed loudly, and turned even the most mundane moments into an opportunity to tell a story. And from his stories, we reflect on his wisdom and selflessness.
Waldemar, or “Frenchy”, was an honorable Vietnam veteran of the 196th Light Infantry Brigade - more specifically a member of the long-range reconnaissance patrol (LRRP) from 1968-1970. He was a passionate restaurateur and chef, culinary instructor, and small business owner. Beyond his various professional endeavors, Waldemar was a charismatic storyteller, proud angler, self-proclaimed food critic, devoted family man, and adoring husband of nearly 53 years.
Family
Waldemar leaves behind beloved wife, Marianne Blaschke, daughter Elise, son-in-law Colin, granddaughter Colette Jean and a community of family and friends who will forever cherish his impact.
Farewell Tribute
As we say goodbye, we won’t mourn quietly as Waldemar wouldn’t have wanted that. Instead, we’ll celebrate the incredible life he lived, the challenges he embraced, and the love he gave so freely. His spirit will forever echo in our laughter and in the energy of a well told story.
In honor of his extraordinary life and service to our country, a military service will be held on Saturday, March 15th at 11:00am at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 240 N. Tuckahoe Road, Williamstown, NJ 08094.
In memory of Waldemar, the family asks that donations be made to Cornerstone Veterans Services so that his spirit of generosity continues to touch lives of other veterans and their loved ones. Cornerstone Veterans Services, Attn: Dr. Bob Haynes, 2001A Lincoln Drive West, Marlton, NJ 08053.
