May 19th, 1957 - February 15th, 2025
Sharon Elaine Sudnik (1957–2025)
Sharon Elaine Sudnik, 67, of Belleview, Florida, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, in Summerfield, Florida, and was welcomed into the arms of the Lord. Born on May 19, 1957, in Lowell, Massachusetts, to John True Bachelder and Margaret Currie, Sharon was the youngest of three siblings. She grew up in Pelham, New Hampshire, where she graduated from high school before answering the call to serve her country.
At the age of 17, Sharon enlisted in the U.S. Army, where she served with distinction for 10 years as a heavy equipment operator and military test proctor. During this time, she was part of the Vietnam War era, and her service was a source of immense pride for her and her family. On December 18, 1976, Sharon married David B. Sudnik at Fort Polk, Louisiana. Their love and commitment to each other remained steadfast until David’s passing in 2021.
After her honorable service in the Army, Sharon continued to contribute to her country’s defense efforts through civil service, working for the Department of the Air Force, and later as a defense contractor with Lockheed Martin. Her dedication to her work and to the safety and security of others remained an enduring part of her legacy.
Sharon is preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Brian Sudnik, who passed away in September 2021. She is survived by her two children, Megan Sudnik and David Sudnik, as well as her daughter-in-law, Kelly Sudnik and grandchildren, Charlotte and Owen Sudnik. Sharon also leaves behind her sister, Susan Gagne; half-brother, John Bachelder; and stepsiblings Raymond and Wanda Allen.
A memorial service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Maricamp Road Church of Christ, with Minister Beef Branard officiating. Sharon will be interred with military honors at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, on March 3, 2025 at 12:30 p.m.
The Sudnik family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the exceptional nurses and staff at Hospice of Marion County, Dr. Patterson and the team at Bethel Blood and Cancer Institute, as well as the Santilli and Gagne families, Jean McKenzie, Maricamp Road Church of Christ, Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, and all people who have outreached or provided kindness, food, rides, or comfort during this time.
