In the darkest of moments, hope shines the brightest.
Lori Wallin (Lori Johnson, LCSW)
August 10, 1958 – February 22, 2025
Lori Wallin, age 66, passed away on February 22, 2025, at her home in Boise, Idaho, surrounded by her loving family, following a brave battle with cancer.
Born on August 10, 1958, in Gillette, Wyoming, to Clinton and Elaine Collingwood, Lori was the third of eight children. She spent much of her childhood in Billings, Montana, before graduating from Sheridan High School in Sheridan, Wyoming. Lori earned two bachelor's degrees from the University of Wyoming: a Bachelor of Psychology in 1993 and a Bachelor of Social Work in 1995. She later obtained a Master of Social Work from Boise State University in 1997.
Her family was her greatest pride and joy, and her grandchildren were the light of her life. From the time they were babies, they spent summers in her backyard having pool parties, engaging in water balloon fights, and creating chalk art. During the cooler months, they baked cookies and cupcakes, played games, had dance parties, enjoyed the snow, and drew pictures together.
Lori cherished nature, whether tending to her favorite flowers in the yard, playing Scrabble on the patio accompanied by great music, camping at Ponderosa State Park in McCall, or participating in activities with her women’s group and best friends. A natural-born healer, Lori carried her gift with grace and compassion throughout her life. As a dedicated therapist for over 30 years, she helped countless individuals navigate their pain, find strength, and become whole again. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support touched the lives of many, leaving behind a legacy of love and healing.
Lori was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She found happiness in simple moments—cherishing time with her loved ones, offering words of encouragement, and always extending a helping hand to those in need. Her warmth and generosity knew no bounds, and her presence will be deeply missed.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff; her children, Rick, Jody (Eric), and Rachel; her grandchildren, Noah, Mia, Anna, and Xavier; her parents, Clinton and Elaine Collingwood; and her siblings, Doug, Craig, Jim, Jerry, and Matt. She was preceded in death by her brother, Jason, and her sister, Peggy.
A celebration of Lori’s life will be held on March 22, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Summers Funeral Home
