Kenneth W. Stueber
October 3rd, 1936 - February 21st, 2025
In Loving Memory
Kenneth Walter Stueber, 88, passed away February 21, 2025 from a rare autonomic nervous system illness. He was born October 3, 1936 in Elma, Iowa to parents Walter Carl and Hester Behm Stueber.
In December 1958, Ken married his high school sweetheart, Wanda Mae Schroeder. She was his devoted wife of 66 years, travel partner and caregiver.
After graduating from Iowa State Teachers College with a degree in Chemistry, Ken enlisted in the United States Navy. In 1960, he graduated from Navy Officers Candidate School and served his country at Key West US Naval Research Lab, Naval Facility San Salvador and Ramey Air Force Base Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
Ken joined EI Dupont De Nemour in 1963. During his 29 year career, he had eight assignments at Dupont plants along the East Coast before being named Plant Manager at the May Plant in Camden. Ken lived these years to the fullest enjoying international travel, golf, fishing, becoming Papa and then Big Papa to his growing family. Due to early symptoms in 1990 and an eventual diagnosis of MSA-C, Multiple Systems Atrophy, Ken retired in 1993 and began the difficult 35 year battle of declining health.
Along with his wife, Ken’s devoted family includes daughters, Debbie White (Andy), Dee Crane (Eddie) and Susie Hall (Darryl); 7 grandchildren and their spouses: Andrew (Becca), Benjamin (Katie) and Luke (Cassie) White. Megan (Brian) Andreas, and Charlie (Cassie) Crane, Siara (Justin) DeNicola, and Sterling (Amber) Shytle; 14 great grandchildren: Tripp, Drew, Emma, Olivia, Banks, Mary Davis, Jay, Benny, Emory, Mac, Charles, Ginny Kate; and 2 great grandchildren due in the next few months.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Marian Stueber Masemann, in 2004.
The family’s deepest appreciation goes to the staff of RetireEase, Wellmore, Carroll Campbell Place and Amedisys Hospice. We are especially thankful for our “Mimi” who faithfully demonstrated a Godly marriage with dedication “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health.”
A Celebration of Life will be held March 15, 2025 at 11:00 am at Mt Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, with visitation following the service. Memorials may be made to Mt Hebron UMC.
