Misti Kilgore
September 14th, 1970 - February 22nd, 2025
Misti Lyn Kilgore (54), most affectionately known as Muhhh, passed away after a short illness on February 22, 2025 at UT Med Center. Muhhh was a devoted wife, step-mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and cherished friend and leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family and friends.
Muhhh loved big! She spent her life devoted to others and helping them in any and all ways with her MacGyver, Martha Stewart, Tim the Toolman skills. She could do, fix or make ANYTHING and spent her life sharing all of her skills with others. She was the glue, the hot glue I’m sure, that held her family together.
Misti is survived by her husband of 27 years, Richard Kilgore, her step-children whom she always loved as her own, Matthew Kilgore (Knoxville) and Emily and Ethan Thompson, her brother, Allen Fennell, and his wife, Bonnie, who shared in her life’s journey with love and support. She also leaves behind her beloved niece, Savannah Spears, and her husband, Corey and her greatest prides and joys, her grandsons Owen, Oliver and Grady Thompson. In addition she is survived by great nieces and great-great nieces and nephews. Her family meant everything to her, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
Misti had a deep affection for her “pet” cows, Scarlet and Christmas, tending to them with the same tenderness and devotion that she extended to all those she loved. She also adored her faithful dog, Binx, who was always by her side, bringing her comfort and joy. She found peace and fulfillment in caring for animals and thought that she could save them all!
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Earl Allen Fennell Sr. and Regina Fennell, whose memory she carried in her heart every day, as well as sister, Sheri Amyx and niece, Terri Davis.
A celebration of Misti’s life will be held on Sunday, March 2nd, at 2:00 PM at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, with Pastor Chris Brown officiating. A reception and time to share will follow in the Ministry Center. Dress is casual - if Muhhh ever made you a homemade shirt, we encourage you to wear it!
Though she is no longer physically with us, Misti’s spirit will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her love, strength, and crafting skills will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
The family would like to extend thanks to the amazing team at UT Med Center Neuro CCU and for all those who have offered their prayers and support during this difficult time.
