McGuinness Funeral Homes - Woodbury
Scott M. Brown
August 27th, 1959 - February 21st, 2025
“One foot in the grave, the other on a banana peel,”
Scott Middleton Brown, 65, of West Deptford, NJ finally slipped on the banana peel and joined his sister, Pamela, and father, Robert, in heaven on February 21, 2025.
He spent much of his life working hard and creating memories with his family, be it by planning family vacations, decorating for big Halloween parties or playing with his grandkids. When he wasn’t with his family, he dedicated over 25 years of his life working at Energy Transfer. In his downtime he enjoyed drum corps, word puzzles and visiting national parks. For much of his life he visited Echo Lake in Maine where he would spend summers at ‘camp’ fishing and exploring. He loved a good book, a good meal and a good inappropriate joke.
A little grumpy at times he was affectionately known as Grumpa by his grandchildren Jaxon and Emerie, who he adored. He is deeply missed by his wife Karen (Lopez) Brown who he shared a life with for over 36 years and his daughter Lauren Jones (Brown), son-in-law Kyle Jones and daughter Sarah Brown. He will be lovingly missed by his mother, Thelma Brown, brother and sister-in-law David & Cathy Brown as well as his sister-in-law Gale Lopez, brother and sister-in-law Bob & Ellen Lopez, brother-in-law Bill Lopez and sister-in-law Mary Daly. He is remembered by his extended family, many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and work buddies.

McGuinness Funeral Homes - Woodbury
We have served the Woodbury community since 1951, when our founder, James A. McGuinness, opened our first funeral home. He knew the importance of families having a trustworthy, local funeral home to help them memorialize their lost loved ones and navigate grief. Our beautiful funeral home in Woodbury was originally built in the late 1700s, and has since been rebuilt to honor its original charm and comfortable, warm feel. Once you walk through our doors, you become family....
