Offutt “Joe” Napier resided in Largo, FL. Born in McVeigh KY on November 18, 1932, he was a graduate of Belfry High School Class of '51. Joe proudly served with the U.S. Navy SeaBees during the Korean War.  He attended the University of Cincinnati before moving to St. Petersburg, FL in 1960 and enrolled in the University of South Florida.  He was the superintendent for a construction company in St. Petersburg for several years. In 1972, he became a counselor with the Pinellas County School System at Pinellas Park Middle School.  After working there for 10 years, he transferred to Clearwater High School in 1982 in the same position. He retired in June 1992, after 20 years with the school sysstem.

 

He was a member of the Pinellas Classroom Teachers Association, a life member of V.F.W. Post 6827 in St. Petersburg, the American Legion Post 252 in Seminole FL, The National Korean War Veterans Association, and life member of The Sunrise State Korean War Veterans Association.

 

Joe had a deep passion for hunting and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his son, Joe C.  He is survived by  his brother, Malcolm W of St. Petersburg, FL, his sisters, Emma Gail Mosbacker of Omaha, NE, Jean Kaylor of Hazelhurst, MS, Mona Sue Cramer of Peoria, FL and Carolyn Burzumato of the Villages, FL. 

 

Friends and family will be received for a viewing and visitation Wednesday, March 5, 2025 from 9-10Am at Anderson McQueen-Tyrone Chapel 7820 38th  Ave. N, St. Petersbrug, FL, 33710. A service will immediately follow officiated by his niece, Belinda.  Joe will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell FL and will receive full military honors for his service in the US Navy.
